Library Graffiti Wall

13th March 2017

Library Graffiti Wall

These are on the temporary walls set up surrounding the Civic Theater building site on Lorne Street opposite the central city Auckland Public Library. It is next to the Maori mural painted in 2016 as part of the Matariki celebrations and on the opposite end of the wall as the Bansky inspired work by Gabriella Lidstone White.

It was painted as part of an event surrounding French artist Jean-Marc Calvet, who painted the mural with members of the public over a couple of late afternoons/early evenings in February 2017. As a result parts of it are a lot better than others and the far end, which includes the solid background with the dots, is the result of that area being painted over after the actual event had finished.

Like the other murals and graffiti on this wall, this will be temporary and be gone once the building has been finished and the wall removed.
